Built as a single 1970s development
Bewbush was developed by Crawley Borough Council from 1974 onward, on around 385 acres of former estate land, with the aim of housing roughly 9,000 people across some 3,000 houses and flats.
Because so much of the neighbourhood was built to a similar plan within a short period, garages here tend to be a fairly consistent style and age compared with the mix found in some of the older villages this site also covers.
A named neighbourhood, not a separate town
Bewbush is one of several purpose-built neighbourhoods that make up Crawley, bordered by Broadfield, Ifield, Kilnwood Vale and Gossops Green, and it comes under Crawley Borough Council rather than any separate parish or town council of its own.

Council and distance from Horsham
Crawley Borough Council handles planning and building control across Bewbush, since the neighbourhood sits within the borough of Crawley rather than the Horsham district, despite being only around five and a half miles north of Horsham town centre.
